Don’t Forget Mom!

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12th this year. You don’t want to forget Mom. Whether your wife is your children’s mother or your own mom, every mother wants to feel special. Here are a few ways to honor the Mom’s in your life without breaking the bank.

For Your Wife on Mother’s Day:

  1. Surprise her with breakfast in bed. You and the kids can whip up her favorite breakfast food and serve her in bed.
  2. Take charge that day. Give your wife a free pass that she doesn’t have to take care of the house or kids that day. Let her decide what she would like to do on her special day.
  3. Wash and detail her car. Break out the hose, have fun spraying the kids in the process!
  4. Fill up her Tank. Save her a trip to the gas station and her sanity if she’s running late.
  5. Line up a babysitter and take her out for a “grown up” date with you. She’ll appreciate the time away from the kids and both of you will be able to enjoy one another without interruptions.
  6. Say it in writing. Sometimes we get so busy we forget to tell our wives how special they are. Write down your thoughts. Have the kids make up their own cards for Mom.

For Your Mother on Mother’s Day:

  1. Picture it. Mother’s are sentimental and love pictures of their children…regardless how old they are. Consider booking a photo session of you, your siblings and your mother. There are many coupons and basic packages at local photography stores.
  2. Arrange a lunch with her friends. Call your mother’s friends and set up reservations for her friends to get together. Arrange for payment if you can afford to do it.
  3. Fix it. Maybe your mother has needed some minor repairs at her house. Drop by with a hammer in hand and a kiss on the cheek.
  4. Say it with Flowers: Many of our mothers live far away, send her a bouquet of flowers with a sweet sentiment. Reminder her she is loved regardless the miles between you.
  5. Phone it in. Make time to call your mother on her special day and make a committment to call her this year more often. Moms still love hearing what’s going on in your life.
  6. Upgrade her phone. Surprise her with a new phone that would help her keep in contact. Make sure you help her learn how to use it!

For Your Mom on Mother’s Day (from the kids):

  1. Clean the house(or at least your room) for Mom…without complaining!
  2. Paint a picture of your mom and frame it.
  3. Make a garden mosaic with your footprint or handprint.
  4. vDownload some of her favorite music on her ipod or phone that she never seems to have time to do.

  5. Make a treasure hunt for mom to find a special gift you made her (ie: a beaded bracelet)
